Galveston Tuna Fishing Charters (Overnight)

On our Tuna Fishing Charters, we’re heading 100+ miles off the coast of Galveston for an unforgettable deep-sea adventure. We’re heading out in the afternoon, fishing our way through the sunset off the Texas coast, targeting some of the most sought-after game fish. On these trips, we’re targeting grouper, kingfish, mahi, big snapper, wahoo, and more during the afternoon. As we transition to night, we’re switching up tactics, targeting tuna while they’re feeding.

Target Species

Our target species are Yellowfin Tuna and Blackfin Tuna. Yellowfin are highly prized for their massive size and excellent flavor, while Blackfin offer a gteat fight and delicious meat. The peak season is during the summer months, typically from June to September, when water temperatures are warm and baitfish are abundant, attracting these migratory predators.

While we wait for the tuna fishing to pick up, we’re targeting a mix of other pelagic and reef-dwelling species—fishing our way out, and fishing our way back in.

Where We Fish

Tuna are always found in areas where food is abundant. They’re looking for strong currents and upwellings, which bring nutrient-rich waters to the surface, attracting baitfish. These areas can include:

  • Deepwater banks and ledges: These underwater features create breaks in the otherwise flat seafloor, attracting baitfish and providing structure for tuna to ambush prey.
  • Weed lines: These lines of floating seaweed often attract baitfish, which in turn attract tuna.
  • Areas of convergence: Where different water masses meet, creating areas of high productivity.
  • Around floating objects: Tuna often congregate around floating debris, such as logs, and buoys.

The Flower Gardens is a massive coral reef system located 90-110 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, accessible only through our Blue Water EXTREME trips. This unique ecosystem boasts depths ranging from 200 to over 1,000 feet, teeming with life including massive grouper and wahoo.
